February 2016 SVS Pick-Up Weekend with TOSCA

March 4, 2016

Columbus Avenue named for the Italian-born explorer and godfather to the Americas cuts a diagonal through the North Beach neighborhood and its pizzerias, gelaterias and cafes.

One of our favourites is Tosca Cafe, a San Francisco staple that has been a dimly lit home to everyone from the Beats to Rudolph Nureyev. New York restaurateurs Ken Friedman and April Bloomfield [of Spotted Pig and Breslin fame] took the space over in 2014 and carefully shored up an interior that had marinated for 94 years in cigarette smoke and spilled brandy.

We invited the team to join us for our Winter SVS event here on the farm. They served up roasted pork sandwiches with salsa verde and chicory salad; despite being just the end of winter, our SVS family were able to sit outside on the knoll as the hazy winter day folded into dusk.
